A Strong Focus on the Green Sector Pays Off

The report entitled “World class challenges” takes stock of the development of Denmark’s green economy, and it concludes that many new jobs have been created in the green sector between 2005 and 2010.

A sound investment

“It is satisfactory to see that Danish cleantech businesses have increased the number of jobs so significantly, and that many new green companies have been created in the same period. It proves that focus on this area is sound investment,” says Minister for Climate, Energy and Building Martin Lidegaard.

The 25 companies that grew the most in the period work with green and renewable energy production, particularly with solar and wind energy. The wind energy sector counts a total of 96 companies and their employment has increased by 78% in the period 2005-2010.

Work with knowledge institutions

“Many of the growth companies in the energy sector are working closely with knowledge institutions and also carry out their own research. This turns out to establish the best environment for creating original niche products and unique brands and applying the newest technologies. The result is that we in Denmark can demonstrate some of the world’s best energy solutions,” says Danish Energy Industries Federation Director Hans Peter Slente.
