Solar thermal energy, heating water with energy from the sun, is an entirely renewable, reliable and cost-efficient energy source. A typical residential solar water-heating system reduces the need for conventional water heating by two thirds; making such installations an attractive option for both homes and businesses.
Since the 1970’s Danish companies have worked on developing solar water-heating systems in large-scale applications and smaller systems for the home. There are currently more than 40.000 single-household solar water heating systems in Denmark.
Solar energy is a viable energy source for district and block heating applications. There are a number of demonstration plants in Denmark with roof-mounted as well as ground-mounted collector arrays. The largest district heating solar plant in Europe is 20,000 m2 and is located in the Danish town of Marstal.
Collect and store the heat of the sun Collecting and storing the heat of the sun for rainy days seems obvious. Danish photovoltaic technology and solar thermal energy systems offer reliable and cost-efficient methods of generating electricity and...
