To make industrial equipment and industrial processes more energy efficient it is necessary to include energy considerations in the design and use of equipment and processes. This investment is beneficial to the environment, but the improvements also benefit the investors, because the long term savings are bigger than the initial investment. The same is true for resource efficiency.
Improving equipment and industrial processes is an ongoing development driven by both competition and legislation, but it also takes leadership and planning within the company itself. It is better to think ahead and be knowledgeable about the possibilities for better equipment and processes, than it is to spend time and resources trying to catch up with competitors or failing to comply with regulations.
Due to the incentives created by high energy taxes, Denmark has a tradition of energy efficiency in industrial processes reaching back further than in most other countries where regulations have been less strict or even non-existent. Danish companies have a lot of experience in heat recovery, insulation and other ways to avoid unnecessary loss of energy in industrial equipment and industrial processes. They are also experts on waste management and resource optimization.
Thus, using energy more efficiently in both housing and production is an obvious step towards becoming independent of limited energy resources such as fossil fuels. And there is a large potential for doing just that. Saving energy in buildings B...
