Starting in 1979, on the heels of the second global oil crisis, Vestas began delivering the world’s first wind turbines. We recognized then - as we do now - that the dependence on fossil fuels was neither dependable nor secure.

While we have progressed immensely since those first turbines – Vestas has installed more than 46,000 turbines in 69 countries, services 35,000 turbines and employs more than 20,000 people around the world – the relentless commitment to making wind work better for our customers and their specific energy needs remains the same today, as it did on the first day.

Because, in the end, we know failure to make wind work on par with oil and gas is not an option. And only by generating value for our shareholders can we power the change our planet urgently needs.
