Energy efficient office building Kolding Åpark DK

Rambøll has provided full consultancy on design of an office building for the local Rambøll office Kolding Åpark in Kolding.
The heating and cooling is unique as it utilizes the local opportunities in the city.
The building is situated:

• close to public transport, which reduces individual transport by car
• in the district, which is planned for urban heating
• close to a stream, which can be utilized for free cooling

The local opportunities for efficient heating and cooling is utilized in a simple and cost effective way:

• The building is connected to the local almost CO2 neutral district heating system in Kolding and the triangle area, which is supplied from a local waste-to-energy plant, industrial surplus heat and a large CHP plant.
• The floor heating allows the building to deliver a low return temperature of around 25 dgr.C, which ensures efficient distribution and production of heat.
• The same floor heating system is utilized in the summer to provide free cooling from a nearby stream.
• The ventilation system supplements the floor heating to provide a good level of comfort
