Kalundborg Municipality

Kalundborg is a leading industrial city with an industrial leverage as a middle-sized European city, despite its only 50.000 inhabitants. On top of this Kalundborg contributes to the total Danish CO2 emissions by appx. 10%.
Being the largest industrial cluster outside Copenhagen, projections about the future of Kalundborg are prosperous facing increasing industrial investments amounting up to 1,6 bn euro within a decade.
The gloomy downside however is the correlation between heavy industry and GHG emissions. It is however paramount to Kalundborg Municipality to pursue a sustained growth rate as projected however NOT at the expense of the environment.

Kalundborg is striving to become a green industrial city by 2020. Many remedies have already been taken and projects initiated with key players thereby bridging the often perceived antagonistic parameters featuring growth and sustainability.
