All Technology Relations for Residual products converted into new energy

Wood is a natural product and is therefore not totally uniform. As part of our thorough quality control, we annually discard relatively large volumes of timber which is not suitable for use in the flooring production. Together with sawdust and shavings the discarded timber is delivered direct to Junckers’ neighbour – a biofuel plant owned by the national Danish energy company DONG Energy. In the plant, Junckers residual timber is burned in modern boilers with a high utilization rate, and steam and electricity are extracted from the energy.
In this way, more than 100,000 tons of wood from Junckers’ production returns to the energy circuit. Each ton substitutes oil, natural gas or coal which would otherwise have been used to produce the required steam and electricity for the operation of the company. By far the majority of the wood from Junckers is transported to the biofuel plant in a closed conveyor belt direct to the combustion boilers keeping the energy consumption related to transport at a minimum.
This is altogether a good example of industrial symbiosis between two companies!
