Network moulds the elements for ambitious climate and energy projects

The City of Herning has a long tradition of involving local players in its initiatives. The latest example of this is Climate Network in Herning, which comprises 42 companies, institutions and associations that collaborate with the municipality on new climate and energy initiatives, such as Studsgård Climate Village.
The City of Herning has acknowledged that the municipality alone cannot effectively resolve the challenges facing us in the climate and energy fields. Achieving the ambitious climate and energy goals that have been set requires a joint effort from companies, associations and the general public alike.

Overall goal is to reduce emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases

Climate Network in Herning, in tandem with other initiatives, will help achieve the municipality’s overall goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 25 per cent by 2015 and of reducing total greenhouse gas emissions by 15 per cent by 2015 and 35 per cent by 2035.

At the same time, the municipality hopes that the network can give its members valuable experience in the climate and energy field, encouraging them to develop their own businesses and so give green business development, research and education at municipal level added impetus.

Local players act as sparring for The City of Herning

In 2007 the municipality was involved in establishing Climate Network in Herning, which today comprises 42 companies, institutions and associations. The network, which serves as an idea generator for new climate and energy projects within the municipality, has been behind several innovative projects, such as , input for the preparation of the municipality's climate plan, energy saving in agriculture, arranging an annual Green Week, publication of thematic newspaper with the energy and climate focus, etc
