Herning is situated in the heart of Jutland, about 170 kilometres from the German border and three and a half hours drive from Copenhagen.

Herning is a major trade fair and congress centre. The city is also known for its open friendliness, growth, inventiveness, enterprising business life, good jobs, rich commercial life, vibrant research and educational environments (university), varied cultural life – to put it in a nutshell; a city with everything.

Business

Herning is placed between the two biggest windpowerfactories in Denmark. Here you find subsuppliers that contributes to important steps in the valuechain of the windpowersector. We have skilled and highly educated labour, and at the University you will find the knowledgecentres: DUWET (wind), Nordstar (clima) and Center of Energytechnology.

Clima

The municipality is focused on providing all businesses with good, fast and quality service. Together with Ikast-Brande Municipality, the Municipality of Herning was recognised as the most business-oriented area in both 2010 and 2011.

For the last quarter of a century Herning Municipality has been focused on reducing its CO2 emissions, which today are significantly below the national average. Now the municipality has set itself new and ambitious targets, including one to reduce emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases by 35 % by 2030. Herning is an EcoCity.
