The Blaydon area of Gateshead has just benefitted from the opening of a new £18m healthcare and leisure complex. These shared facilities are a joint NHS and local council development.
Built on the site of the former Blaydon Comprehensive School, the new complex will provide a minor illness and injury walk-in unit. The leisure facilities include a large fully equipped fitness suite, a 6-lane 25m metre pool, plus a learner pool, a multi-purpose room and changing facilities.
Supporting the infrastructure and ensuring that the M&E pump requirements meet the high standard of the new facility are a wide range of Grundfos energy-efficient pumps.
The pump solution was designed in conjunction with consultants Cundall and LJJ Contractors and provided a range of Grundfos electronically controlled TPED twin-head single stage centrifugal pumps that are ideal for use in both heating and cooling systems, members of the MAGNA circulator ‘A’ labelled family and, very importantly for a centre where meeting the water demand is vital, 3 x Hydro Multi-E pressure boosting sets.
With the health emphasis shifting from prevention to cure, these centres will play a very important role within their communities for many years and the Grundfos pumps provided will quietly continue to meet all the demands made of them for many years to come.
