The Danish Council for Strategic Research

The Danish Council for Strategic Research funds foundational and applied research, characterised by being problem-oriented and interdisciplinary, involving both users and international expertise.

The research projects address the Danish RESEARCH2020 strategy and focus on technological and knowledge-based solutions to great global challenges related to natural resources, environment, energy, climate and food.

The Council funds research projects which are:

• Developing competitive, energy efficient and renewable energy technology systems which will be able to meet future energy needs, environmental requirements and countering the climate change
• Creating knowledge about the environment, water and resources and developing environment-efficient competitive technologies and solutions which will strengthen business competitiveness and contribute to a cleaner environment
• Supporting competitive, environmentally-efficient and health-promoting production of food and other biological products

The Council is also engaged in international calls i.e. in cooperation with the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) on research activities in sustainable and renewable energy.

The Danish energy research, development and demonstration programmes coordinate their activities.
