Bjuv biogas production plant in Skåne, Sweden, is a cooperation between E.ON and the farm Wrams Gunnarstorps Gods. The plant was taken into use in the year of 2007 and now produces renewable biogas that is sent directly from the production plant to the user via a pipe-based distribution system.
The biogas plant is an excellent example of how E.ON is working. As a global and major player, we have the possibility of really making a difference by investing, at the same time as focusing on where people live and work – locally.
The biogas plant in Bjuv is designed to handle 65,000 tons of organic material per year. In addition to sludge and waste products from Findus (the leading producer of branded frozen food in the Nordic markets), totaling about 30,000 tons per year, and pig manure from Wrams Gunnarstorps Gods, about 3,000 tons per year, the plant can process additional organic material, such as fertilizer, waste products from abattoirs and other types of food industries.
Biogas production amounts to about 25 GWh per year, corresponding to two and a half million liters of petrol. That means a reduction of the carbon dioxide emission with 4 000 ton every year.
