A Sustainable City is an area of significant opportunity for development and economic growth, but it is also a beautiful and convenient place for living and working. E.ON’s primary expertise and interests lie within energy solutions, waste management and transportation solutions. Through innovative thinking and use of the resources that we already have, we can take care of the environment without having to lower our standard of living.
E.ON has developed a complete concept for which the starting point of our work on solutions is based on 100-percent locally sourced renewable energy.
The EU’s energy strategy provides the impetus for our Sustainable City project. The strategy details three targets:

When we work with sustainable cities, we base our efforts on the local cooperation between various players. With a common vision and a common goal, we identify solutions that will benefit all involved.
We take a holistic approach to the issue of energy, we utilize existing infrastructure, identify the unique local conditions that exist to generate energy, capitalize on the diversity that exists in the energy system and ensure that we do this in a commercially viable manner.
