Waste-to-energy plants

DONG Energy produces heat and electricity at three waste-fired CHP plants located in Jutland. Together with the small-scale CHP plants, the waste-fired CHP plants supplement the primary CHP plants.

Haderslev CHP Plant

Haderslev CHP Plant is a waste-fired CHP plant with an incineration capacity of 2 x 4.5 tonnes of waste per hour. The plant has an installed capacity of 4.5 MW of electricity and a maximum district heating output of 14.5 MJ/s.

In 2006 Haderslev CHP Plant generated 29 GWh of electricity and 353 TJ of district heating on the basis of the energy contained in 61,726 tonnes of waste and 157.000 Nm3 of natural gas. The natural gas was used for the support burners of the boilers.

Sydjysk Affaldsvarme I/S supplies the waste used in production. The district heating produced is sold to Haderslev District Heating Station.
