All Technology Relations for Wind turbines - heading for carbon neutrality
Show all technology relations
The City of Copenhagen aims to reduce its carbon load through the setting up of profitable wind farms. The City already have concrete plans to set up more wind turbines in Copenhagen – both on land and water, bringing total investments close to DKK 5.5bn. But efforts should be increased in order to achieve the goals of the climate plan.
Another 130 large wind turbines
Wind turbines represent a tested and well-developed technology and to achieve carbon neutrality in 2025, the City of Copenhagen needs to set up close to another 130 large wind turbines. The exact number depends on the distribution of onshore and offshore wind turbines, specific wind conditions, future technological developments, etc.
The City is currently working to identify suitable locations around the country for setting up wind turbines. As the various locations are identified, specific proposals will be oulined. The project involves total investments of up to DKK 5.5bn. in 2025, measured in 2010 terms.
Partners
The City expects to fund the investments through loans, sale of shares and external investments. The process of setting up the wind turbines will be carried out by Copenhagen Energy, a company owned by the City of Copenhagen. The City is now working to complete business cases, making it feasible for external partners to invest in new wind farms.
