All Technology Relations for More Electric Vehicles in Copenhagen
Show all technology relations
Copenhagen wants to spearhead the phasing in of Electric Vehicles (EVs) as an alternative to gasoline and diesel.
The best frameworks for an EV market
EVs have been tax exempt since 1983 and in Copenhagen EVs can park free of charge in the parking charge zones. If EVs are to be successful in Copenhagen, we must make it attractive for EV providers and enterprises to develop and test their charging stations in Copenhagen.
At the moment there are between 100 and 150 EVs on the streets of Copenhagen. We have acquired 33 vehicles ourselves. Our aim is that by 2015, 85 per cent of the City's own vehicles should be electric, hydrogen or hybrid powered.
Infrastructure
So far, the City of Copenhagen has reserved 500 parking spaces for EV providers to set up and operate charging stations for a period of ten years. As relevant standards and legislation are made ready, the City of Copenhagen will offer long-term concessions to ensure the full-scale roll-out of infrastructure on public roads. We wish to cooperate with relevant car manufactures, service providers and investors, who can contribute to creating a public infrastructure.
Cross-border collaboration
On a European level, the City of Copenhagen is already engaged in two projects aimed at establishing a European infrastructure for EVs and on a global level, we are engaged in the Clinton Climate Initiative and C40 facilitated network on EVs.
