All Technology Relations for The light rail is on track
Show all technology relations
In January 2009, the Danish National Parliament earmarked DKK 500 million to the first stage of the light rail project in Aarhus, and in October 2009 the Danish Transport Minister declared that the state will participate actively in the implementation of the project.
The light rail will contribute to the city’s goal of CO2 neutrality in 2030. Partly as a high quality alternative to individual car traffic and partly as an energy efficient and electric powered, urban traffic system – with the prospects of being powered by electricity from increasingly more CO2 neutral electricity production.
The project has undergone a consultation procedure and hearing statements from citizens, organisations and authorities are now being processed. It is expected that the statements will be submitted to the City Council during the summer of 2010.
When the light rail takes its fist trip in 2015 it is planned to have up to 12 departures an hour.
