Arklow Bank Offshore Windfarm
In January 2003, seven large offshore towers departed from Bladt Industries A/S’s quay in Aalborg and headed towards Arklow Banks in the UK.
The towers were for 3.6 MW turbines, which in 2003 were the largest offshore wind turbines erected at that time. The towers are placed at Arklow Bank, east of Ireland. Each tower weighs 157 tonnes, has a diameter of 5.5 metres and is 60 metres high.
The whole project was successfully completed within only five months.
Burbo Bank Offshore Windfarm
In August 2006, Bladt Industries A/S was awarded 25 offshore towers to Burbo Banks near Liverpool, Great Britain. The large order was delivered in less than a year later; by April 2007.
The towers are for 3.6 MW turbines and each of the 25 towers weighs 146 tonnes, which brings the total project tonnage to 3,650 tonnes. Each of the towers has a diameter of 5 metres and a height of 64 metres.
