District heating reconstruction project in Ukraine
The Scolny district in Odessa Municipality have realized a reconstruction project including boiler-house, new burners, modernization of the controls, new pre-insulate distribution pipes, and district heating substations to each multifamily house.

The project included transition from three central DH substations to 36 individual substations, produced by Alfa Laval, modern heat metering and control system. District heating pipes from the boiler station to the individual substations were done with pre-insulated pipes by Logstor, equipped with leak detection system. The old boiler station was renovated with a reconstruction of four old steam boilers to warm water boilers with automatic burner systems by Petrokraft AB.

Emisssion reduction and Carbon Finance
If the above project can comply with the framework of Kyoto Protocol, the project owner may receive one carbon credit for every ton of CO2 it achieves in emission reductions. A carbon credit is generated if the emission reduction is additional, real, measurable and leads to sustainable development in the host country. When the carbon credits are sold to the market, it generates additional funding to the project, i.e. carbon finance.
