The award for the Best Nordic Housing was presented by The Nordic Association of Cooperative and Social Housing, called NBO. The award is presented to ”a new housing project, which brings together stirring architecture, environmentally and socially sustainable solutions, and a modest price level.”

The jury, consisting of prominent architects, explained the choice of The Lark Garden III with the fact that the building is at the same time engaging from an architectonic perspective and has a very high level of sustainability ambitions.

Keeping energy consumption at at minimum

The director of Ringgården, Palle Jørgensen, who presented the building at the conference in Oslo, was pleased to inform that the Lark Garden III already is better than expected in regards of energy consumption. The consumption figures indicate that the dwellings are close to zero energy housing, which means that they hardly use any energy for heating. The dwellings are passive housing, and therefore they do not have traditional district heating. Heating is electrical, and as the level of electricity consumption is the average of a Danish household, heating is practically free of charge.
