A total of 56 countries from six continents proposed projects for the list in ten different sectors: energy, buildings, cities, transportation, resources, food, fashion, health, education and IT. Each of the projects represents innovation, inspiration for the future, and tangible proof that the solutions needed to create a sustainable transformation of our society already exist.

Leading the sustainability agenda
The 100 solutions show a variety of projects in large as well as in micro scale from all over the world. Among the solutions we find the basic solutions, which will contribute significantly to a cost effective reduction of climate gasses, such as:

  • Energy efficient buildings
  • District Heating
  • District cooling
  • Power transmission lines
  • Combined Heat and Power
  • Waste to energy CHP
  • Offshore wind farms
  • Geothermal powe and heating
  • Biomass
  • Biogas
  • Large scale solar water heating
  • Intelligent traffic
  • Efficient infrastructure for bikes
  • Solar PV for off grid installations in rural areas
  • etc.

As knowledge partner for Sustainia, Ramboll has helped to deliver the sustainability criteria within the various sectors and screened hundreds of solutions from around the world. The award for the best project of the 100 winning solutions will be presented at an event in the autumn in Copenhagen.
