Strategic Collaboration Initiated Between Kawasaki City and Denmark

The Danish Ambassador to Japan, Mr A. Carsten Damsgaard will sign the MoU with Kawasaki City at a ceremony in Kawasaki city on July 4. The purpose of the MoU is to enable close economic cooperation between Denmark and Kawasaki City and promote sustainable growth in both Japan and Denmark.

Two key players within green growth

“With almost 1.5 million inhabitants, Kawasaki City is a natural choice for Denmark to strengthen our bonds with. Both Denmark and Kawasaki City are key players in innovation-based design, information, and communication technologies and robotics as well as in life sciences and Green Growth solutions”, says Danish Ambassador A. Carsten Damsgaard.

Kawasaki is home to head offices and R&D centers of several important corporations, including Fujitsu, Pioneer, and Toshiba, and hosts an annual “Eco Tech Fair”. The city is known for its environmental technologies and a targeted strategy to overcome pollution problems.

Establishing joint ventures

Denmark is a front mover when it comes to green energy, and the Danish government has set the goal to be completely independent of fossil fuels by 2050. Through the joint venture, Danish solutions and knowhow within wind energy, bioenergy and smart grid technology can now become part of Kawasaki’s green transition.
