Local cleantech companies nominated for an international climate award

By |
6 August 2012

The prize is awarded by GCCA (Global Cleantech Cluster Association) which is a major international hub for climate clusters, and as a member ClimateCircle in Holstebro has had the opportunity to nominate local members. The winner, who will be awarded with the prize ‘Later Stage Award’, will in particular have strong product eligibility and will gain international recognition and attention with the prize.

The representatives of the western part of Jutland are Neoline A/S, Alfred Priess A/S and Lontech Solutions A/S. With cutting-edge solutions, respectively LED lamps, energy-neutral street lighting and energy efficiency, Jutland and the Danish representatives are guaranteed to gain attention in the competition.

"Denmark has exceptional skills within developing and producing sustainable solutions. It's great to learn that we attract global interest in what we do at clean-tech companies in Jutland, and I eagerly look forward to the judges' evaluation of the nominated companies" says John Sohn, director of the organization ClimateCircle which promote cleantech companies in Holstebro Municipality.

Ahead is now a substantial amount of work reviewing the hundreds of green nominees. The 30 judges who will be evaluating the nominated companies and find the right winner are all global cleantech specialists. Their focus in the evaluation will be investment potentials and this process will run until November 13th 2012, when the winner is announced at the conference 'International Clean Energy' in Savannah, Georgia, USA.

Shawn Lesser is partner at Watershed Capital Group, USA, and co-founder of the GCCA who awards the prize and he explains: "To win ‘Later Stage Award’ a company must have an innovative spirit  and success in your home market that can be scaled to other parts on the world in a cost effective time efficient manner”.

The nominated companies will be evaluated within these categories: Advanced Materials, BioEnergy, Energy Storage, Lighting/Energy Efficiency, Solar Energy, Smart Grid/Sustainable IT, Tidal/Hydropower, Transportation, Waste Management, Water Treatment and Wind Energy.

Facts about the three nominated companies

Neoline A/S is a brand new company that produces LED pipes that challenge existing global competitors due to larger energy savings. Additionally, the pipes from Neoline A/S can be installed directly into existing fixtures.

Alfred Priess A/S develops and manufactures environmental street lights. The brands uniqueness lies in the elegant design and Co2 neutral construction. Power is supplied from integrated solar panels and all materials are 100% recyclable.

Lontech Solutions A/S offers a software solution for companies who want to reduce energy consumption. The solution feeds managers with detailed and continuous information about the company or its systems, for example in production. This knowledge can be used to optimize the business and reduce energy costs.
