Danish green technologies are among the best in the world and now Danish solutions within energy, climate, environment and water have been granted their own visitors’ and exhibition centre, which will act as a nexus to collectively showcase the many positions of strength towards international decision makers.

House of Green will be opened on Thursday, 5 September at 3 pm by H.R.H. Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark with an attendance including Minister for Climate, Energy and Buildings Martin Lidegaard and Minister for the Environment Ida Auken. The opening of House of Green marks a long-standing wish for a unified platform to showcase green Danish technologies.

The Danish Industry Foundation has granted approximately DKK 15 million to establish the visitors’ and exhibition centre, which will contribute to strengthen the competitiveness of Danish business life.

Export of green energy technologies accounted for DKK 32,5 billion in 2012. In addition, Danish export of water technologies accounted for DKK 15 billion, and it is the expectation of both government and businesses that export within these areas can be increased over the coming years.

State of Green will have daily responsibility for House of Green. State of Green is a public-private partnership where the Confederation of Danish Industry, the Danish Agriculture & Food Council and the Danish Wind Industry Association comprise the private group of owners. The consortium has promoted green Danish solutions internationally since 2008, and the new showroom constitutes a powerful platform to serve this purpose.

Every year, State of Green conducts visits for more than 1,500 international commercial and political decision makers, who visit Denmark to experience and get inspired by the green solutions of Danish businesses.

The primary function of the visitors’ centre will be to act as a first stop for international delegations that visit Denmark. The visitors will be introduced to Danish solutions and competences before they venture out on a live tour experience to witness first hand how the solutions work in real life.

The centre has 400 sqm of open space, divided into three main areas: an interactive landscape, a virtual universe and a lounge with flexible meeting facilities. Combined, it creates a unique setting that lets visitors acquire knowledge about both political framework conditions and the integrated technical solutions that pave the way for the green transition.

Mads Lebech, CEO of the Danish Industry Foundation:

“The Danish Industry Foundation thinks that the idea of creating a combined physical and virtual frame around the green Danish narrative is appropriate and relevant in relation to strengthening Danish competitiveness. We are very pleased that this is realized and that a unique international presence can be create to contribute to strengthening the competitive position of Danish business life. This project highlights Denmark’s commitment towards green technologies and creates added value to Danish business life when sustainable solutions based on systems thinking is showcased”.

Finn Mortensen, Executive Director of State of Green:

“For many years there have been thoughts about creating a unified framework around the national narrative. Now it is finally accomplished, and it is a natural extension of the objective for State of Green – to ensure global attention towards the many Danish technologies – that there is now also a possibility to showcase them through a physical platform. We are very grateful that the Danish Industry Foundation has created a foundation that enables the showcase what small and large companies in Denmark are capable of. We hope that many will make use of the new possibilities that this platform renders possible”.
