All Technology Relations for Four new Green Labs strengthens Danish energy ambitions

The board of the Green Labs Denmark Program has granted approximately € 18 million to establish 4 centers where companies can test and demonstrate new climate and energy solutions with global market potential.
The largest grant on approximately € 12 million is going to Lindoe Nacelle Testing, a test center for big nacelles (wind mill houses) at Lindø. The center will test big sea wind mills regarding functionality and endurance in a new test bench. Behind the center is a cluster of Danish wind mill constructors, investors and universities that are in the world elite when it comes to knowledge regarding sea wind mills.
The three other centers are:
- Powerlab: Smart Grid technologies at Bornholm
- GLEEB: Energy efficient building components in Tåstrup
- Green Gas Test Center : New green renewable energy gasses in Hørsholm
The four new Green Labs will sustain and develop a high competence in Denmark by making brand new test facilities available to Danish and foreign companies. It will speed up the pace of the development and contribute to sustaining the production of energy technology in Denmark.
Chairman of the board, Torkil Bentzen, says: “When you have to sell new energy technology – regardless if it’s big sea wind mills, Smart Grid components or window systems – then it’s crucial that the product can be tested at an independent test center. It increases the level of credibility, it’s a significant sales parameter and it presents the opportunity to quickly correct flaws and improve prototypes. The new opportunities will benefit Danish companies and probably also attract foreign constructors”.
Minister for Climate and Energy, Lykke Friis, says: “We need projects that work as green lighthouses for the Danish technology sector. The Green Labs Denmark Program has an important position in the process regarding the development of advanced test positions. With a strong field of applicants on the central Danish strongholds, I conclude that the test is passed and Danish energy clusters completely fulfill the ambition of the government of being among the elite worldwide. That promises for a prosperous Danish green future”.
All commitments are given in terms that will be negotiated with the recipients. It is among others a condition that the complete financing of the centers will be in place, which also includes grants from other institutions and in the case of LIndø, an approval from the EU because of the size of the amount.
