EU Directive on Energy Efficiency Improvement Inspired by Denmark

EU Directive on Energy Efficiency Improvement Inspired by Denmark

The European Commission launches a new directive on how to increase energy efficiency, as a result of the European Union’s problems of meeting its target of reducing energy consumption by 20% by 2020. The Conferation of Danish Industry welcomes the directive and recognizes precise matches between the goals of the directive and the competencies of many Danish businesses.

The proposal for a new EU directive will return the EU to the straight and narrow track to make sure that the Union will achieve its target of using 20% less energy by 2020. The EU is expected to reach only a little more than half of the target unless new initiatives are taken.

Based on Danish experiences
The EU directive is based on the many good experiences of the Danish energy saving campaign, and at the same time, a large group of Danish companies offer expertise in the development of energy and climate technologies.

Welcome the directive
“We welcome the directive as we in Denmark have many of the technologies and solutions needed if we are to achieve major efficiency increases in the way we use our energy,” explains CI Adviser Camilla Damsø Pedersen.
