Danish Growth Plan ready for Energy and Climate
The growth plan, based on the government’s goals for a green transition of the Danish energy system and energy consumption, highlights how the transition will contribute to continued growth and job creation in Denmark. The growth plan encourages further development of markets within energy technologies, for instance within energy-efficient solutions and district heating:
“With the growth plan we make en effort to retain and create jobs within both innovation and production in Denmark. For instance, a new Industrial Energy partnership will focus on how large companies heavy on electricity consumption can reduce electricity costs by making their electricity consumption more flexible, says Minister for Business and Growth Henrik Sass Larsen.
“Throughout the world there is an increased focus on energy-efficient solutions and renewable energy. It opens up a huge market for Danish companies, which have a head start in this area. The growth plan helps the companies benefit from this advantage, so they can create growth and jobs”, says Minister for Energy, Climate and Building Martin Lidegaard.
The growth plan contains 30 initiatives covering 5 focus areas:
- Green transition of the energy system – A more flexible and interconnected energy system
- Promotion of exports – To the global markets
- Buildings – An energy-efficient and sustainable building stock
- Research, development, market maturation and education – Denmark as a green hub for test and demonstration
- Resource efficiency – Efficient extraction of fossil fuels in the North Sea
Danish exports of energy technology products totaled close to USD 5,8 billion in 2012.
